In 2016 Patriot Campers took the Australian 4X4 industry by storm with the release of the LC79 Supertourer dubbed ‘The Black Truck’, and by 2017 The Black Truck was opening the SEMA show. Fastfoward to 2022, the Black Truck is heading back to the United States for a SEMA encore at the Toyota USA booth alongside four other Patriot heavyweights; The Megatourer, The FJ49, the Patriot Campers X3 and the Patriot Campers X1-N. From November 2 to 4 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
ENGINE & CHASSIS
Built on the indestructible 79 Series Toyota Land Cruiser platform, The Black Truck transforms a 4.5 liter V8 Turbo-Diesel GXL 79 Series into an ultra-capable off road tourer, which still holds its place as one of the most capable overlanding vehicles on the market. The engine rebuild is complete with a GSL Stage 2 Kit, upgraded turbo, front mount intercooler, plus 70 injectors and ECU remap producing 300kw of power.
The foundation of The Black Truck is its 300mm chassis extension and bespoke Patriot Campers Supertourer body. Custom designed fittings and carefully selected accessories include custom bar work, a twin GSL 4″ stainless exhaust, twin locked differentials, front and rear winches, MSA extendable mirrors, and an undertray water tank with electric pump. The Black Truck has a suspension upgrade to 4200kg and rides on PCOR® alloy rims wrapped in 37 Inch Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Kevlar Tyres from Bob Jane T-Marts for ultimate traction and go-anywhere maneuverability. All of this represents an off road tourer designed by enthusiasts with an unrivaled attention to detail and award-winning manufacturing excellence.
EXTERIOR
The exterior design follows the vehicle’s existing contours, with continutation staying the theme with color matched toolboxes and headboard infill on black highlights. The body is made completely from aluminum, ensuring a prolonged lifespan, with lightweight and rigid construction methods maximizing the payload and towing capacity.
The Xray Vision 220 HID & 1200mm Quad Optic Light Bar Kit offers the best of both worlds with pencil HID to get the light over 2km from the truck whist the combo spreader bar mounted on the roof covers everything in the short distances.

SUSPENSION
The Black Truck has been built to tackle the toughest terrains with a 4200kg GVM suspension upgrade. With 3 inches of lift, the LC79 will chew through anything in its path.
The Black Truck features a rear coil conversion from JMACX, who are the industry leaders of coil conversions and suspension systems. This gives the LC79 the strongest coil conversion on the market with full engineering and is road legal in Australia for up to 4 inches of lift and 35 inch tires.
The Black Truck sits on a set of Signature 261 PCOR® Wheels in a hard wearing machined faced finish. These alloy wheels are engineered to maximize the Black Trucks GVM capacity and increase the Land Cruisers maximum legal track width. Supplied and fitted by Bob Jane T-Marts, The Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Kevlar offers outstanding 4WD performance in extreme conditions. Featuring an aggressive asymmetric tread design for additional traction and grip along with a layer of DuPont Kevlar in the sidewalls for added toughness.
INTERIOR & COMMUNICATIONS

The Camp Kings 270° Free Standing Awning uses high-quality aluminum extrusions to ensure that the awning is both lightweight and extremely strong. The awning can easily withstand torrential downpours and high winds. It is quick to set up and provides ample shade.
ELECTRICAL
Control your electrical inputs and outputs via the Redarc Manager 30, powered by 2 lithium batteries. The Redarc Tow-Pro™ Elite is an electric trailer brake controller designed to suit most common trailer braking applications whilst requiring minimal dash space and being simple to install and operate. The Redarc 1000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter produces a pure sine wave output, essential for powering 240 volt drawing power from a 12 volt battery while on the road.
