PATRIOT CAMPERS UNVEIL 5M, 1750KG OFFROAD SUPERTOURER™ ST5
Years of inspiration. Years of development. Years of testing like no one else does. Years of believing in our original philosophy…has all come down to this.
Introducing the Supertourer™ ST5.
“The whole idea behind Patriot Campers was to build something that would always make it there and back,” says Justin Montesalvo, the founder and CEO of Patriot Campers. “After the experience I’d had with other camper trailers, it had to be lighter and smaller than what was in the market at the time, and it had to be bullet proof.
“You can still find the video on YouTube where we rolled the first Patriot on a trip to the Kimberley. We just flipped it back on its wheels like it was nothing. Ironically a few weeks ago a owner with a new GEN2 dropped his trailer off to us for a service and showed me a video of him rolling it on Gunshot. Same story, he just flipped it back over and continued on his trip. Hand on heart, after we gave it a wash we could’ve put it in our showroom.
“From the very first caravan expo we were asked when we were going to make something bigger. It was always an easy answer. ‘That’s the opposite of what we’re trying to do with this thing, mate’,” remembers Justin. “But I think the reality was that I couldn’t get it right in my head. Bigger meant heavier. Bigger meant longer. Bigger meant, ‘Well, we can’t drag this thing up there’.
“I can’t tell you how many times I started a conversation with Sarah or my team by saying, ‘but what if we did this?’ or ‘Would it work if we tried it like that?’
“And I guess I knew we’d cracked it when we put the prototype on the scales and, without its interior, the scales read 1,373kg. It was bigger, but it’s still a Patriot.
“I can look at every part of any Patriot Camper and tell you exactly where I was and what I was doing when I came up with the idea or concept. It all comes from living the lifestyle that we live. Whether’s it’s up the Cape or 200km/h past the Water Tower at Finke.
“We’ve been criticised a lot for building a race team. But I can tell you that the suspension that we’ve come up with on the ST5 wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t learned what I’ve learned from offroad racing. And I think the whole industry will learn something from what we’ve done with Trinamic™.”
Justin Montesalvo, Director of Patriot Campers.
Supertourer™ ST5
Now, that’s a Patriot
The Patriot Campers Supertourer™ ST5 is just 5.2 metres in length and weighs an impossible 1,750kg. It’s revolutionary, offroad racing inspired, in-house developed suspension system has 250mm of travel and inside you’ll find a luxurious interior.
Its one touch raising roof is lined with 800 watts of solar panels and a state of the art service module is found in one location, conveniently located for off the grid maintenance and simple serviceability.
Storage throughout comes in at over 1500L and a roof-mounted as well as rear-door mounted Exorack systems combined with Molle panelling increases gear storage capacity.
The outdoor kitchen is ‘borrowed’ from the award winning Patriot Campers X Range. Internally you’ll find beautiful surfaces, ample storage, comfy lounge and dining and a fold out, Queen-sized bed as well as an indoor bathroom with wet-dry, dual-stage floor.
The ST5’s is designed with weight distribution and low center of gravity as a critical criteria using a combination composite and structural aluminum body and lightweight rigilite chassis.
The ST5’s familiar front-end is inspired by the current Gen2 X-Range with moulded, composite mancave and dual gas bottle holders. The shape of the mancave is intentionally designed to deflect rocks and keep your tow vehicle safe.
Above the drawbar you’ll find a convenient ladder that contours the mancave door and gives you access to rooftop storage and leads you past the wide, front porthole window that gives you your first glimpse at the ST5’s luxurious interior.
The low-profile, automated roof of the ST5 is lined with 800W of solar panels and a 150kg rated Exorack that allows for bulk storage such as kayaks and storage boxes.
The right side profile of the ST5 features a large 645L bulk storage locker and separate service locker that accesses every serviceable component in the ST5. Here you’ll find two large nautical porthole windows and the sleek, angled lines, RGB strip lighting and laser-cut decals give the ST5 a rugged, dynamic presence on the track.
The vertically opening rear-entry hatch creates a robust back-end with angles and details that will make your towable the envy of your camping convoy and features another Exorack for storing recovery gear and other offroading essentials.
Rocksliders, side-steps, underbody bash guards and glimpses of the galvanised Rigilite chassis protect the ST5 from step-ups or drop-offs.
The left side aesthetically mirrors the right side of the ST5 apart from the discreet, electric awning and here you’ll find access to your outdoor kitchen and bulk storage pantry.
33” offroad tyres are standard and can be optioned to 35” and PCOR wheels complete the look of Patriot Campers’ Supertourer™.
Supertourer™ ST5
Light But Strong
The construction and design of the Supertourer™ ST5 has covered all bases when it comes to the lightweight, durable materials used, the constructions methods employed and the positioning of each and every component.
The foundation of the ST5 is its Rigilite hot-dipped galvanised steel chassis, tried and tested on the Patriot Campers X-Range. Durable, and perfectly balanced over a state-of-the-art suspension system the single variant chassis is extended as standard and conveniently houses a spare tire underneath. Through FEA analysis its structure is designed to reduce overall weight, and expertly positioned water tanks, climate control units and a space-saving spare wheel keep the ST5 firmly grounded for stability but nimble enough to go anywhere.
The lightweight skin of the ST5 is an evolution of the Aerojoin X-range body construction as it combines a primarily structural aluminium base with an intentionally sparing use of 30mm composite panels. These composite panels are used for their thermodynamic and insulation properties and are non-corrosive and rot-free compared to materials like laminate, MDF or timber.
Patriot Campers has a long history with using structural aluminium as a lightweight alternative to other towable body construction and this can only come from generations of understanding the way aluminium reacts to the dynamics of offroading.
The body of the ST5 is a structural aluminium skin with composite panels and is fused together using Aerojoin weldless technology, chemical adhesives and aeromotive fasteners to improve weight reduction and structural integrity.
These insulating materials create a thermal transfer pocket to the living area which also encapsulates the underbody water tanks, fittings and fluid lines to ensure the winterisation of the ST5 in sub zero temperatures and keep it operational in all four seasons.

TRINAMIC™ SUSPENSION
A decade of offroad racing experience has taught us a lot about how different vehicles move across different terrains, at different speeds. Countless man hours have been spent understanding the nuances of shock absorption, spring rates, suspension geometry, bump steer and scrub radius which is why the only solution for the Supertourer™ ST5 was an in-house designed, triangulating, radius-arm suspension system called Trinamic™.
Trinamic’s independently articulating dynamic is unlike anything else found on a towable and is purpose built to be lightweight, durable and adjustable, and designed to reduce the wheel weight as much as possible to allow the monotube shock absorbers to function at their optimal level and keep the tyre in contact with the ground, dramatically improving stability.
Patriot Campers has partnered with leading suspension partners to give customers the confidence that parts are available at nearly 200 service centres across Australia and Trinamic uses a fully-sealed automotive bearing to reduce the service requirements found in other suspension systems and can be found at any major automotive parts retailer.
The Trinamic suspension system is tuned for 33” and 35” offroad tyres and 285mm disc brakes create smooth stopping and confident power.

POWER, LIGHTING & SERVICING
Patriot Campers has always been about touring and off-the-grid, DC power. Seemingly out of place at a caravan park, if you have the ability to connect to shore-power, you haven’t taken a Patriot Camper where its intended to go.
As standard, the Supertourer™ ST5 comes with 460ah of lithium batteries that are energised by 800 watts of solar power and a 50 amp charger to enable charging from an Anderson Plug on your tow vehicle. The suite of electronics are controlled by twin electronic management systems, one for inside control and one for outside. And of course, this is all controllable via Bluetooth connectivity to your phone.
A 3000W inverter and 240V/110V GPOs allow for appliance charging and USB-C charging ports can be found throughout.
The lighting design on the ST5 adds an element of functional style and the external strip RGB strip lighting is dimmable and can be customised to not only set the mood at camp but also to deter bugs. And of course, a “party mode” for when the fire’s roaring, the tinnies are open and the fish from that story is getting bigger and bigger.
The nerve-center of the ST5 is the service locker and is genius in its simplicity. Every single serviceable component, fuse and schematic is routed back to this location and can be found behind a single door. It enables full access and intuitive understanding, guided by a full trailer schematic permanently printed to the inside of the service locker door, for almost anyone to be able to troubleshoot and maintain their trailer no matter how remote they are at the time.

Luxe Lifestyle
The Supertourer™ ST5’s two-touch automation makes it by far the quickest Patriot Camper to set up. Rear entry access creates two distinct living areas without sacrificing the communal camping hub of the external, L-shaped kitchen that has worked so well since the Patriot Campers X1 that revolutionised offroad camper trailers more than a decade ago. The roof and awning are erected in a matter of seconds, and at the touch of a button.
Retaining the external kitchen has allowed for maximum internal living space and positions the bed below the canvas. The additional length of the ST5 has created space for a 110L twin-slide pantry that rolls out parallel to the fridge slide which houses a 95L dual-zone, chest fridge and hot and cold sink.
The kitchen door converts into a large, scratch-resistant stainless steel preparation area and reveals a versatile storage compartment with drawers, partitions and a dual induction cooker.
The ST5’s interior features an obvious nautical influence that defines the internal layout and the plush materials and warm, dimmable lighting make for a cosy escape from the elements.
The ST5’s internal shower and bathroom features a patented wet-dry, dual-stage floor system that folds over the composting toilet and creates a water-tight shower floor that leaves the lavatory completely dry. Elegant tapware, a ceramic above-counter sink, non-slip flooring and ample head-room make the ST5’s bathroom comfortable.
Marble textured storage areas compliment the beautiful, neutral-toned colour scheme of the ST5’s fabrics and flooring and cleverly placed mood lighting and directional lamps highlight the contemporary living space. A U-shaped lounge wraps around a folding dining table that converts into the support for the convertible queen-sized bed. An optional folding bunk is positioned above to add additional sleeping capacity.
The ST5 has been designed with an equal emphasis on capacity and versatility. More than 1500L of storage through the exterior and interior as well as dual Exorack systems and molle panels make the ST5 more than capable of long term trips. Internal and external storage has been carefully thought out to provide a home for everything.
